How to Access the Pharmacy First UTI Service

What is a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)?
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is caused when bacteria enter the urinary system, which includes the bladder (cystitis), kidneys, and urethra. The most common type is a bladder infection.
What are the symptoms of a UTI?
-
Burning or stinging when you pass urine
-
Needing to go to the toilet more often than usual
-
Discomfort or pain in the lower tummy
-
Passing small amounts of urine frequently
UTIs are very common in women and can usually be treated quickly. If left untreated, they can sometimes spread to the kidneys and cause more serious illness — which is why early assessment and treatment is important.
